On the Boards

This project is coming near to a conclusion. We're working with the homeowner on a plan to lift the house and make some upgrades, including a new entry/stair tower. We're somewhat limited due to the setbacks, so this one was playing with a more cottage-y attempt to dress up the new front as opposed to the more modern boxy designs of the addition we had been pursuing.

Plenty of parking at this home. Believe it or not, this is in the flood zone and the entire structure sits on pilings because the soil is more than a little iffy. A beach home doesn't have to be up on stilts (well, not all of the time) as this relatively low slung home shows. Sometimes, raising the house up and parking underneath of it is the best use of the space and available height, here, we did the opposite, carving out a garage space to stay under the lower height restriction. ...
