On the boards:

We're working with a client to renovate their beach home. First pass is always all over the place because we want to give them options to think about, even when we're as constrained by existing conditions as this house will be. We played with the stair location, the overall look of the house, whether or not there would be a roof deck, where we would put the screened porch, how to get a "front door", and a ton of other details so that they can mix and match and think and the next round be a lot closer to a final design.

Excited for this house to get built, we were working on it for a while. A multi-generational home, almost a complex. We've done a couple of these over the years, but most families aren't looking to build a home to house their mother, mother in law, future children in law, and eventual grand children all under one roof. It presents challenges to provide space for gathering, and also to get away. And while the house is large (and costly), it's more efficient than building 3-5 homes for all of the potential families and maintains those bonds. Client knew what they wanted. The requested turret feature with wrap around porch wasn't easy to detail out, but it defines this home. It helps this home stand out and make it uniquely our client's. The landscaping (not us) doesn't hurt either. ... See MoreSee Less
