The front elevation on this home is striking. Interesting fact, enclosing the bottom floor triggered a sprinkler requirement. Original designs called for it to be an open carport, but the client really wanted a garage space and was willing to do the sprinklers. In many ways, that was a good choice. The trigger's intent is to buy people time to escape from upper levels that they can't jump from. Whether you enclose the bottom or not, the top of this house is pretty high up, and the sprinkler mains were right there already, so we think the client made a good choice in both getting the space that they wanted and protecting themselves in case of disaster. ...
