View across the open living space. One real challenge of this project was balancing the amount of glass desired with the structural needs of the shear walls. You can also see the amount of steel it took to keep this floor open, especially as our structural depth was limited by the height restriction (we just barely fit everything below the required line, so we couldn't even add a couple of inches of depth to the structure.) ... Not great architecture, but great engineering. This is the underside of the elevated swim spa support. Keeping ten thousand pounds of water elevated a couple stories above the ground isn't easy, but the pool deck is accessible from the main living space on this reversed floor plan. ...
